For a long while I added to it, but over the past several years it has sat available but not expanded upon. My focus has changed over the years as I found my work commonly being used as reference material for seekers as well as non-Wiccans simply looking for information. Rather than being a reaction to the neopagan community, this new site is much more tailored to providing quality, basic information. Concerns about Wicca” is for those who have heard various rumors about who we are and what we do. It’s written in particular for parents concerned about what their child is investigating. Wiccan Basics” is just that: coverage of the basic ideas and practices of Wicca. Despite the fact the concept of an ancient witch religion has been 40 years debunked, there are still those who claim Wicca is an ancient religion. The History” section discusses the origin of the idea, what is wrong with it, and the real, modern history of Wicca. Facts and opinions about facts are not the same. The Opinion” section addresses issues I consider important but also recognize as a personal perspective. I am regularly asked about book recommendations, so Books” gets its own section. unfortunately, I have not read any new books in several years, so there are all repeats of the reviews on my original site. Offsite Articles: History, Interrupted” contains a number of articles I wrote on my blog, History, Interrupted . While they do not specifically address Wicca, they are topics which are relevant to many Wiccans and other neopagans.44 Comments to " Welcome to the New Site " You can follow all the replies to this entry through the comments feed Coty June 6, 2014 - 1:07 pm | Permalink I’m so excited you working on this site again! It has remained my favorite resource to share with others. I’ve also enjoyed your other projects. Looking forward to the refresh! Reply admin June 6, 2014 - 1:18 pm | Permalink Thank you! I always appreciate sharing, and I’m glad you’ve continued to find it a valuable resource. I am *hoping* to have an FAQ eBook out this year to make material easier to share, although I’m reluctant to promise such things because I know how often I finish such projects. Reply amberlf January 6, 2015 - 11:18 am | Permalink YES!! I have referred people to this site for a good 8-9 years now!! I’m so glad its being worked on again!! Reply Owl Monocle June 6, 2014 - 6:49 pm | Permalink !!! I’ve been reading your websites since I first discovered Wicca for the Rest of Us in 2002. I’m really enjoying your History, Interrupted (wishful history major here but I’m going for an English/Business degree) blog but I have to say I’m really excited for the revamp.” I’ve always appreciated your no BS information-I know I’ve certainly needed it! Reply admin June 8, 2014 - 10:26 am | Permalink History, Interrupted will still be my major project. I pretty much said what I wanted to say when I made this site. But it does need an update, at the very least, and I probably have some additional info floating around my various that would be applicable here (a few of which I’ve already included under the offsite articles tab. Reply vantoiler June 7, 2014 - 12:26 am | Permalink Your book ratings were top notch. Hope you’ll get back to doing that. Reply admin June 8, 2014 - 10:28 am | Permalink Are you meaning reviewing books? I haven’t read a new book on Wicca in ages. Sorry. Reply vantoiler June 11, 2014 - 12:03 am | Permalink Yes, I was referring to your reviews. Sorry to hear that, but at least keep your old ones archived and accessible. Reply admin June 11, 2014 - 2:31 pm | Permalink Yeah, my approach to Wicca has changed a lot over the years. I don’t find getting yet more books useful, particularly since so many continue to be poor and others say the same things I’ve seen in other place over and over again. When I see other people recommend books, I don’t see them recommending anything newer than Thea Sabin’s Wicca for Beginners (which I also recommend), so I feel like I’m not missing much. I had Llywellyn sending me review copies for a while, but what I got were often so terrible I wanted to shoot myself. Reply vantoiler June 14, 2014 - 5:16 pm | Permalink I would also be interested in reading your negative reviews of more modern publications, for what it’s worth. I think of you as kind of an authority on the subject. Fergo March 10, 2024 - 5:33 am | Permalink Shame this website was updated 10 years ago but at least I found a semi updated version of your old site Reply sociallyartward June 7, 2014 - 2:30 pm | Permalink I am exited to see an update, as this site is my go to for those interested in Wicca! Reply Joel Monka June 20, 2014 - 8:12 pm | Permalink I am so glad you are taking this up again- Wicca For the Rest of Us” has been invaluable to me as a member of the Indianapolis Pagan Prison Ministry- your Outsider’s Guide” (for which I donated!) particularly helping me with the Christian chaplains and prison administration. Reply admin June 23, 2014 - 8:01 pm | Permalink Glad it’s helpful. At some point I’m going to (theoretically) make a much expanded outsider’s guide available as an eBook, and maybe as a print-on-demand. I really need to stop editing it and declare it good enough.” I’ve been doing it for years. Reply Joey Lynn July 6, 2014 - 12:49 pm | Permalink I’m looking foward to the new site Reply Samantha Patterson July 29, 2014 - 11:34 pm | Permalink I hope I’m posting in the right place. I recently made an erroneous comment concerning Margot Adler because I confused her with Margaret Murray. I would be interested in reading your thoughts on Ms. Adler. Have you already discussed her somewhere on this site and I just can’t find it? Reply Cassie Beyer August 22, 2014 - 12:27 am | Permalink I haven’t said anything about Adler. It’s been ages since I read Drawing Down the Moon. The general opinion of it is it was a very helpful resource when it first came out, but it’s outdated. Reply Marie Sumner September 18, 2014 - 1:11 pm | Permalink Hi Cassie, I’m reaching out with a resource on the history of witchcraft (really, the persecution of witches) that I thought you might be interested in adding to your Historical Sites” section. Can I send it over for you to have a look? Thanks! Marie Reply Cassie Beyer October 28, 2014 - 3:32 am | Permalink Sorry, kind of lost track of this project when school started up. Which resource are you referencing? Reply seon October 1, 2014 - 4:22 am | Permalink Glad you are back, I have bought books and rejected...
